The Truth About Stretching

We all seem to get the urge to stretch when we first wake up in the morning (at least every once in a while, if not every morning). Are there health benefits that come with stretching our arms, legs, and back when we first wake up? According to my research, yes there are. There are many articles online on the subject of stretching. There are four common explanations for why we instinctively stretch when we get out of bed.

  1. Stretching gets rid of stiffness.
  2. It helps the circulatory system and increases blood flow.
  3. It helps build muscles.
  4. It relieves stress.

So if you stretch a lot in the morning, don’t worry, it’s OK. It’s beneficial.
