Pro Tip: Start from the ceiling and work your way down!

  • Clean light fixtures and/or fan blades. Replace any bulbs if they’ve gone out.
  • Take down curtains and blinds. Wash, iron, and re-hang.
  • Wash windows.
  • Wipe down ceiling and walls, paying special attention to tray ceilings, plant shelves and other nooks and niches.
  • Dust any hanging art and use glass cleaner to clean any framed artwork.
  • Wipe down furniture from top to bottom. Wax or oil all wooden furniture.
  • Dust knick-knacks, jewelry/watch boxes, picture frames and anything else that resides on dresser tops.
  • Strip beds and wash all linens, include mattress protectors, sheets and bed ruffles.
  • Wash pillow inserts according to instructions on tags.
  • Wash and fluff feather mattress toppers if you have one.
  • Vacuum and flip mattresses to ensure even wear.
  • Dust sconces, lamps and other light fixtures.
  • De-clutter nightstands (inside the drawers, too!).
  • Clean out underneath the bed.
  • Vacuum and shampoo all rugs, or sweep, light mop and polish wood floors.
  • Make the bed with lighter spring linens and blankets.
  • Switch out decorative pillows.
  • Replace candles or diffusers with spring scents.
  • Empty the trash.
