If you missed the first part of our series, be sure to check it out to learn the basic steps to create a failure-proof decor scheme! Today we’ve created a bright, fun & energizing guest room. Our inspiration were some of these images from Pinterest:
The rooms are bright, but not neon or fluorescent. From the inspiration pictures, we could discern that we would need a lighter paint color that wouldn’t take center stage, bright bedding with lots of color, and some traditional patterns like florals, plaids and stripes. We began with a colorful comforter set from target, and let the room build from there.
Clockwise, beginning at top left: Bedding, Target Room Essentials Expressive Floral; Paint color, Benjamin Moore Seafoam Green; Chair, Frankie Armchair in Suzani; Sheets, Affluence Home Fashions 300 tc Luxury Cotton Sheets; Pillows, Rossmere Corded Throw Pillows in Yellow; Pillow, Gray Ticking Stripe
Multiple patterns help keep the room energized, along with big doses of sunny yellow hues. The grey sheets help ground the bright bedding, while the paint color keeps the room fresh. The chair’s classic lines and funky yet traditional suzani pattern help marry the modern bedding with the otherwise conventional patterns. We’d also add simple white curtains or white roman shades with a chunky grey stripe for the windows.
Again, by following this simple formula, we’ve created a great room perfect for master bedrooms, guest rooms, or a teenager.
